Teaching aids are essential for online teaching

  1. What are teaching aids?

Teaching aids as known rewards are a great way to engage and motivate students in an online classroom, and give the student a sense of accomplishment. But beyond that, rewards also help teachers connect with their students and make lessons something that students look forward to.

  1. Why does teaching aids work?

Reward systems are an incredible asset to your online English lessons:

  • They encourage students to participate.

  • They provide motivation for students to work hard and try their best.

  • They help to break up lessons, particularly longer sessions of 50 minutes.

  • They can focus on target language and help students practise speaking and answering questions in a positive and fun way.

  • They can be used in a number of ways, rewarding students for behaviour improvements, participation, concentration, attitude, listening to instructions and of course answering correctly.

  1. Different kind of teaching aids

    1. Positive feedback

Feedback is any response from a teacher in regard to a student’s performance or behavior. It can be verbal, written or gestural. The purpose of feedback in the learning process is to improve a student’s performance- definitely not put a damper on it. The ultimate goal of feedback is to provide students with an “I can do this” attitude.

During the online classes, you should use short and concise sentences, level-appropriate vocabulary, and don’t overwhelm them by giving too much feedback at once.

For example:

  1. Good job, Allan!

  2. You did an amazing job, Bella!

  3. Excellent, Mifi!

b. Chip Chip’s star system

Chip Chip offers a built-in reward system for students with our star system. Students can be transformed into real-life presents with those stars in the classroom. When should you give student rewards? When the student has an attempt to answer your question and take part in your classes

c. Stickers and pictures

Stickers and pictures can bring to your class a best experience!

Teachers can tailor stickers for each student by asking their interest

d. Props & realia

We all know that using props in the online classroom is a terrific method to keep students engaged. But they can also make awesome rewards for your students! Take a look at this hilarious idea from our Teacher Maria Laine by using her puppet toy to encourage her students

In brief, you can award your students in a variety of ways to encourage and inspire them throughout their online ESL classes. This blog post only highlights some of the top online education rewards. Each reward method has been tried and tested by Chip Chip’s teachers with excellent results.

Keep in mind that not every learner will enjoy the same rewards. Finding out which reward works best for a specific kid will require a large number of teachers' patience. However, there are so many prizes to pick from that your pupils will never be bored.

Chip Chip hopes you can bring the best journey for our students

Thank you!
